Mass Shooting Involves Three Children

13 people were shot shot in a Chicago Park late Thursday night, including a 3-year-old little boy, who is in critical condition. None of the other victims were listed critical early Friday. chi-120823-essex-shooting-b-photograph

A total of 10 ambulances responded to the scene near Cornell Square Park around 10:15 p.m. local time and transported the 11 victims to various hospitals, fire officials said. Five victims were in serious condition and four others were in critical condition, according to fire officials.

CNN reports:”Investigators believe Thursday night’s shooting was gang-related, said Officer Ron Gaines of the Chicago Police Department. The 3-year-old victim was shot in the ear, and the bullet exited through his mouth, said Officer Ron Gaines of the Chicago Police Department.”

Two other children were shot but were listed in stable condition. The remainder were adults ages 21 to 41. Four were in serious condition. The conditions of the others were listed as stable or good. One adult was treated and released from a hospital.

No information was given about potential suspects or the identities of the victims
